Basketball Recap: Fairland Extends Road Winning Streak to 11

Fairland had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 58-32 margin over the Gallia Academy Blue Devils. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bailey Russell, who went 10 for 15 on her way to 23 points and four steals. Russell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Godby, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Fairland's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Gallia Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Fairland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-35 loss against Portsmouth on the 3rd. As for Gallia Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-44 victory against South Point on the 3rd.
