Baseball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage easily dispatched Tuscarora last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Pride fell just short of the Woodgrove Wolverines by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pride of the 16-15 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Heritage got a good showing from Sam Walsh, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walsh has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Heritage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Olszewski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Another was Cooper Miskelly, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Woodgrove, their record is now 9-1.

Looking ahead, Heritage will head out on the road to take on Dominion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodgrove, they will be playing at home against John Champe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
