For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Palatine and Fremd meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Pirates fell 6-2 to the Vikings. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Carter Monroe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Toby Peterson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Palatine's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Fremd, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-0-1.

While Palatine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
