Baseball Recap: Wellborn Triumphs

Wellborn's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Vinemont Eagles 5-4.

Ashton Woodard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Woodard was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Wellborn's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jace Bradley was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Zack Pressley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base.

Wellborn now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Vinemont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Coming up, Wellborn will be playing at home against Saks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vinemont, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-1 loss against East Limestone on the 19th.
