Recap: Awaken Christian Lions vs. White Pine Bobcats
The Awaken Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. The contest between Awaken Christian and White Pine wasn't particularly close, with Awaken Christian falling 47-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Awaken Christian in their matchups with White Pine: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Phoenix Sharp, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Sharp is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kaylee Rasmussen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.
Awaken Christian bumped their record down to 6-6 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for White Pine, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Awaken Christian will play host again and welcome Founders Classical Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Founders Classical Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for White Pine, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lincoln County at 6:00 p.m. Lincoln County is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
