Baseball Recap: Dudley Comes Up Short

Dudley had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it seven. They fell 16-13 to the Page Pirates. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Dudley got a massive performance out of Jayven Baize, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that Baize has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Lennon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

As for Page, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average this season.

On Page's side, they got a massive performance out of Jackson Marriot, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Marriot has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was John Grieco, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dudley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 27-0 defeat against Northwest Guilford on the 18th. As for Page, they have also already played their next game, a 17-2 win against Caldwell Academy on the 14th.
