            Baseball Recap: Slippery Rock Rockets vs. Oil City Oilers        
        
		
        
        
            Slippery Rock suffered their closest  defeat since April 13, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Oil City Oilers by a score of  9-7. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Oilers earlier this season, when they won  5-0.
Slippery Rock got a good showing from  Johnny Petras, who   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Parker Dalcamo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  run. That  triple marked the first that  he has  hit this season. Another player making a difference was  Casey Darr, who  went 1-for-3 with one  triple and two  RBI.
Slippery Rock has  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-3 record  this season. As for Oil City, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Slippery Rock will  take on  rival Sharon  at 12:30  p.m.  on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Rockets 3.2, the Tigers 4.1) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Oil City is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Titusville  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday.
