Judge Memorial Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elyah Ocampo, who scored 25 points along with seven steals. Ocampo has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last six times she's played. Makena Gardner was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten steals.
Even though Layton Christian Academy has not done well against Summit Academy recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Layton Christian Academy strolled past Summit Academy with points to spare, taking the game 52-33. Layton Christian Academy pushed the score to 43-19 by the end of the third, a deficit Summit Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Layton Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Asmin Tanhan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Penelope Arroyo, who scored 15 points.
Judge Memorial Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Layton Christian Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Judge Memorial Catholic have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Layton Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've made 37.2% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
