Softball Recap: Woodside Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Woodside had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Carmel Padres 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Hannah Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mo Overbey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Woodside's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Carmel, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-7.

Looking ahead, Woodside will square off against Soquel on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Carmel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
