Soccer Game Preview: Trion vs. Calhoun

The Trion Bulldogs will face off against the Calhoun Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trion has five straight wins, Calhoun has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Trion made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Atlanta Classical Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 5-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering Trion have won 11 contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Calhoun's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Model by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Calhoun can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Model are ranked 33rd).

Trion's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those seven matchups. As for Calhoun, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
