Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks vs. Norfolk Christian Ambassadors

Norfolk Collegiate is 9-1 against Norfolk Christian since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks will welcome the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors at 6:30 p.m. Norfolk Collegiate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Norfolk Collegiate turned things around against Hampton Roads Academy on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Navigators as they made off with a 53-33 win. Given the Mighty Oaks' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Navigators are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Justin Burrough, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. What's more, he also racked up five blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Savion Samlal, who posted five points.

Meanwhile, Norfolk Christian had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Christchurch School by a score of 51-43 on Monday.

Norfolk Collegiate's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Norfolk Christian, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.

Everything came up roses for Norfolk Collegiate against Norfolk Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 95-36 victory.
