Softball Recap: Anderson County Takes a Loss

Anderson County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Santa Fe Trail Chargers. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Santa Fe Trail, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 20-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Santa Fe Trail's part, Sydnee Sleichter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Sleichter has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Santa Fe Trail got a massive performance out of Brooke Neidhardt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Neidhardt has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Sowers, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Santa Fe Trail beat Anderson County by a score of 7-0 later that day.
