Football Recap: Clemens Takes a Loss

Clemens had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it eight. They received a blow as they fell 30-13 to the San Marcos Rattlers. The matchup marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for San Marcos, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.3 points over those games.

San Marcos' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Frans Steyn, who threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 51 yards and one TD. Another back making a difference was Justin Tardy, who gained 136 total yards and a touchdown.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Clemens is set to take on their familiar foe Canyon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, San Marcos will square off against rival East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
