Softball Recap: Superior Wins Going Away Against Ray

Superior made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ray, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Superior blew past Ray 16-4 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Lessenia Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lilliana Fritz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Barbie Ybarra also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Superior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Superior's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Ray, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Superior will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hayden at 2:00 p.m. on April 9. As for Ray, they will take on Desert Heights Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Ray is facing Desert Heights Prep at the right time seeing as Desert Heights Prep is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
