Football Recap: Bloomington Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Bloomington Central Catholic and Monmouth-Roseville squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Bloomington Central Catholic had to settle for second. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 29-28 to the Titans. The loss was the Saints' first of the season.

Bloomington Central Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Valshun Powe and Eoin Kohn. Powe rushed for 93 yards and a pair of scores, while Kohn rushed for 41 yards and one TD. Powe is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Elijah Noel and Landon Montroy. Noel rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on only five carries while Montroy rushed for 91 yards and one score. Those 102 rushing yards gave Noel a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bloomington Central Catholic fell to 10-1. As for Monmouth-Roseville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

As of now, neither Bloomington Central Catholic nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
