Basketball Game Preview: Erie Red Devils vs. Chetopa Hornets

The Erie Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Chetopa Hornets on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Erie was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-39 to Central Heights.

Despite the defeat, Erie saw an underclassman step up: freshman Madi Pontious dropped a double-double with 16 points and 22 boards. Those 22 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Pontious. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaeleigh Daniels, who posted 12 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Chetopa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Southeast 47-10.

Chetopa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17-1. As for Erie, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.
