New Lexington let Morgan stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Thursday but luckily New Lexington prevailed anyway. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Raiders 9-7. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Mia Metzger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, New Lexington let Caroline Dupler and Lexi Buckman run wild. Dupler went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Buckman went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Jorja Burkhart was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

New Lexington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan only posted a batting average of .226.

New Lexington's record is now 5-11. As for Morgan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Lexington will face off against Trimble at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tomcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Morgan, they will welcome Marietta at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
