Basketball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the De La Salle Collegiate Pilots, falling 76-41. If the Red Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 75-59 to the Pilots when the teams met back in March of 2017, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Nathan Johnson and Alan Spahic certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Johnson posted eight points, while Spahic had nine points.

The defeat snapped Athens' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-16 record. As for De La Salle Collegiate, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season.

Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for De La Salle Collegiate, they will take on L'Anse Creuse North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as L'Anse Creuse North comes in on five and De La Salle Collegiate on three.
