Basketball Recap: Duchesne Takes Down Maeser Prep Academy in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Duchesne had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Maeser Prep Academy Lions to the tune of 63-21. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Duchesne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kira Grant, who went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Davenport, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards.

Duchesne was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Maeser Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lillian Nolan posted ten points. That was a full 47.6% of Maeser Prep Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row Nolan has put up more than a third of the team's points.

Duchesne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Maeser Prep Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Draper APA will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Duchesne surely won't give up without a fight. Maeser Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
