Football Recap: Alamogordo Tigers vs. Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls
Alamogordo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 26-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavemen/Cavegirls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Alamogordo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Hergenreder, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 38 receiving yards. Nathanael Best handled things on the ground, rushing for 102 yards.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Alamogordo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.
