Baseball Recap: Western Harnett Comes Up Short

Western Harnett extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-15 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Triton Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Tuesday.

Bryce Mills was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ethan Mazurowski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Triton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Triton's side, Zach Roberson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Brady Wilson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Coming up, Western Harnett is taking a road trip to challenge Bunn at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Triton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
