Soccer Game Preview: Jeff Davis vs. Berrien

The Jeff Davis Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Berrien Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jeff Davis has six straight wins, Berrien has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Jeff Davis barely beat Appling County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Jeff Davis was the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over Appling County on Tuesday. While the Yellowjackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

They hit Appling County with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alex Arano (2), Abby Harper, Carrie Ellen Arnold, and Mayrani Trejo.

Meanwhile, while the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Valwood who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. Valwood got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to Berrien's five.

Jeff Davis' win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Berrien, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Jeff Davis took their victory against Berrien when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jeff Davis since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
