Softball Recap: Merritt Island Christian Drops Season-High Score on Heritage

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Merritt Island Christian). They came out on top against the Heritage Panthers by a score of 22-17 on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Parker Morrison, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Keri Shea, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Merritt Island Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .592. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Merritt Island Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Heritage, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Merritt Island Christian and Heritage could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Merritt Island Christian (ranked 379th) will meet Satellite (ranked 168th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Heritage will take on Space Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Monday down 226 places (415 vs. 189).
