Basketball Recap: Xavier Solis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lyons over Beloit

Lyons lost against Beloit back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lyons Lions fell to the Beloit Trojans 56-50. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Solis, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 19 points along with five boards and five blocks. Those 19 points gave Solis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Showalter, who posted 12 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Eli Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Beloit, going 10-for-18 to rack up 23 points and eight boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Beloit's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Cheney, who earned seven points and seven rebounds.

Lyons' loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Beloit, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Lyons didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-58 defeat against Southeast of Saline on the 21st. As for Beloit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-29 victory against Minneapolis on the 21st.
