Softball Recap: Taft Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Taft entered their tilt with Delano on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Tigers 16-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Rilynne Stenderup spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rylee Owens and Jaycee Edgar did most of the damage at the plate: Owens went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Edgar went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Edgar has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Heaven Laux, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Taft now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Delano, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Taft beat the Tigers by a score of 24-2 on Thursday.
