Baseball Recap: Marlboro Mustangs vs. Manalapan Braves
Marlboro extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Manalapan Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 two weeks ago.
As for Manalapan, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
For Manalapan's part, they got a great performance from Kevin Rusinak as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Manalapan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cristian Ptasienski, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That run was Ptasienski's first of the season. Robert DiStefano was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Coming up, Marlboro will square off against Cranford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Manalapan, they will challenge Middletown North at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
