Softball Recap: Washington Hatchets vs. South Spencer Rebels
Washington's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 14-10 win over the South Spencer Rebels. Considering the Hatchets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Mia Humphries made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Humphries was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Priesley Armes was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. Allie Newberry was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
