Soccer Game Preview: Mission Hills vs. San Marcos

The Mission Hills Grizzlies will face off against the San Marcos Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Hills will be strutting in after a win while San Marcos will be coming in after a defeat.

Mission Hills is headed into the match without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They were the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over Escondido Charter on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, San Marcos was not quite Rancho Buena Vista's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Longhorns are ranked 88th).

Mission Hills pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three games. As for San Marcos, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4-5.

Everything went Mission Hills' way against San Marcos in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Mission Hills made off with a 4-1 win. Does Mission Hills have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Marcos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
