Softball Recap: Leeds Find Success

Leeds was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hokes Bluff Eagles, sneaking past 3-2.

Leeds saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Gromko, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Leeds pushed their record up to 11-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hokes Bluff, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-21 record.

Looking ahead, Leeds will head out to square off against Ashville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Greenwave's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hokes Bluff, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oneonta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
