Baseball Game Preview: Turlock Bulldogs vs. La Quinta Blackhawks

The Turlock Bulldogs will square off against the La Quinta Blackhawks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Turlock hadn't beaten El Capitan on the road since April 25, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Gauchos by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Dutch Lawrence tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Turlock's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Hackler, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, La Quinta waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Eagles.

Turlock is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for La Quinta, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
