Football Recap: Newark/Marion Starts Season with Victory Against Midlakes

Newark/Marion gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Midlakes Screaming Eagles by a score of 18-6. The win continues a trend for Newark/Marion in their matchups with Midlakes: they've now won three in a row.

Newark/Marion's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ki'Marion Woolfolk, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD. Those 99 receiving yards gave Woolfolk a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Graser, who threw for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes.

Midlakes dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Newark/Marion didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 38-8 win against Mynderse Academy on the 12th. As for Midlakes, they have also already played their next match, a 26-0 victory against Red Jacket on the 13th.
