Basketball Recap: Murphysboro Takes a Loss

Murphysboro lost against Carterville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Murphysboro Red Devils took a 51-37 bruising from the Carterville Lions. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carterville found their leader in sophomore Maya Toliver, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 16 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Layla Yates, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Murphysboro's loss dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Carterville, their win bumped their record up to 9-18.

Murphysboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-44 defeat against Wayne City/Cisne on the 10th. As for Carterville, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-38 loss against Hamilton County on the 10th.
