League recap: Archmere Academy enters state Top 25

Archmere Academy was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Lake Forest. The Auks came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Caravel extended the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Silver Oak Academy, 42-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Buccaneers.

St. Mark's's dynamic duo of Zachary Whitehead and Dalton Ziemba proved to be unstoppable against Caesar Rodney, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Whitehead threw for 183 yards and Ziemba had 65 yards receiving. Rhett Schwiezer helped St. Mark's' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 43 yards.

Caravel's Derrick Groomes and Aaron Hudson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Groomes has thrown for 726 yards this season, while Hudson has 13 catches for 329 yards. Taaron Brown from the Spartans leads the league in rushing with 594 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Delaware Military Academy and Archmere Academy. Delaware Military Academy enters the game ranked 22nd in the state, while Jerry Ambrogi's team ranks 24th.

St. Mark's and the Riders played the most contested game in Freelance this week, with St. Mark's eventually emerging with a 19-17 victory. Whitehead ran for 50 yards in the win.
