Basketball Recap: Hedley Comes Up Short

Hedley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 52-37 bruising from the Guthrie Jaguars. The Owls were down 48-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Hedley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Payton Inman went 11-for-16 to rack up 26 points and five rebounds. Inman is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Paeton Glover, who posted four points and seven boards.

Hedley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Guthrie, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Hedley will head out on the road to challenge White Deer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Guthrie, they will host Paducah at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Jaguars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
