Softball Preview: Fisher Bunnies vs. Milford Bearcats
The Fisher Bunnies will head out to square off against the Milford Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Fisher fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Tremont on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Turks by a score of 8-7. The Bunnies' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Milford came out on top against Iroquois West on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Bearcats took their game against the Raiders 8-4. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.
Kami Muehling made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Addison Lucht was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Madisyn Laffoon was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
Milford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Fisher, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10-1.
