Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Comes Up Short

Heritage Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Westside Christian Academy Eagles and fell 73-27. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-10.

Trent Douglass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westside Christian Academy, going 14 of 18 en route to 28 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Douglass a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Cottenden, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Heritage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Westside Christian Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage Christian and Collinwood will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westside Christian Academy will take on Northeast Ohio College Prep in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Westside Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matches.
