Basketball Game Preview: West Springfield Spartans vs. South County Stallions

West Springfield and South County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The West Springfield Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the South County Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, West Springfield didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lake Braddock, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Bruins are ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for South County against Fairfax on Friday as the squad secured a 56-9 win. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

South County is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.5 points. As for West Springfield, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
