Softball Recap: Chittenango Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Chittenango entered their tilt with Solvay on Wednesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Bearcats 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Machan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Danica Oppenheimer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Alivia Cavotta was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Chittenango pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Solvay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Chittenango will face off against Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Solvay, they will square off against Skaneateles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
