Carter put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Clinton Dragons with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Green Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Kingston Griph was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Carter got a massive performance out of Cooper Cardwell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Cardwell has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Luke Burnette, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Carter pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carter will square off against South-Doyle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Carter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so South-Doyle's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Clinton, they will face off against Grace Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
