Basketball Game Preview: St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions vs. Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers

The St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions will take on the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. St. Andrew's Episcopal will be strutting in after a victory while Georgetown Day will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, St. Andrew's Episcopal made off with a 50-49 win over Connelly School of the Holy Child.

Anna Beth Tsai-Turton was the offensive standout of the game as she posted 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Safa Al-Uqdah Robinson was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

St. Andrew's Episcopal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Georgetown Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against Bullis, falling 77-28. The Mighty Hoppers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-22.

Georgetown Day's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

St. Andrew's Episcopal was able to grind out a solid win over Georgetown Day in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 55-48. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Georgetown Day's Madisyn Moore, who went 13 for 31 en route to 31 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for St. Andrew's Episcopal to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
