Basketball Recap: River Comes Up Short

River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Monroe Central Seminoles, falling 76-22. While losing is never fun, the Pilots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 682nd, while the Seminoles are ranked 71st).

River's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Monroe Central, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River will take on Fort Frye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monroe Central, they will challenge Martins Ferry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Martins Ferry likes a good challenge.
