Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Piles Up the Points Against Weslaco East

It was a proper cat-fight when Sotomayor faced off against Weslaco East on Thursday. The WILDCATS blew past the Wildcats, posting a 77-28 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the WILDCATS.

Sotomayor was led to victory by Gabriel Hernandez and Olubunmi Odewole. Hernandez shot 56% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Odewole went 7-for-9 on his way to 17 points. Odewole's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Khylin Jackson, who posted 11 points.

Sotomayor's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Weslaco East, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Sotomayor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-48 loss against Palmview on the 21st. As for Weslaco East, they have also already played their next matchup, a 55-48 defeat against King on the 21st.
