Soccer Recap: Memorial Comes Up Short

If Memorial was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Cooper last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Legacy Leopards who were credited with the victory on Friday. The Legacy Leopards got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Memorial Mavericks' one. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mavericks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Leopards are ranked 252nd).

Memorial's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-2. As for Legacy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Coming up, Memorial will venture away from home to challenge Wylie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wylie will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Memorial surely won't give up without a fight. As for Legacy, they will welcome Cooper at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy is facing Cooper at the right time seeing as Cooper is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
