Baseball Recap: Wakeland Comes Up Short

Wakeland and Frisco squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Wakeland had to settle for second. They came up short against the Raccoons, falling 14-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Wakeland got a good showing from Will Vetkoetter, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Michael Mueller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Michael Boyle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Wakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12-2. As for Frisco, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.

While Wakeland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
