Preview: Tonganoxie Chieftains vs. Ottawa Cyclones
Tonganoxie has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Ottawa Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tonganoxie will be strutting in after a win while Ottawa will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Tonganoxie strolled past Eudora with points to spare, taking the game 21-7.
Colton Brusven continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Brusven is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played.
Meanwhile, Ottawa fell victim to Louisburg's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Wildcats on the road and fell 33-0. While losing is never fun, Ottawa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Louisburg is ranked 31st).
Tonganoxie is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Ottawa, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Everything came up roses for Tonganoxie against Ottawa when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 55-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tonganoxie since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
