Basketball Recap: Brattleboro Bears vs. St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers
Brattleboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost to the St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers at home by a 73-54 margin. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 85-72 last Friday.
Brattleboro's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Moore, who posted 17 points and five rebounds, and Hudson Smith, who had 13 points along with six boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Landon Zinn, who earned four points.
St. Johnsbury Academy was led to victory by Luke Bostic and Levi Thompson. Bostic almost dropped a double-double with 30 points and nine boards, while Thompson dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Thompson, who put up eight points and four steals.
Brattleboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for St. Johnsbury Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Brattleboro will take on Fair Haven in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Johnsbury Academy and Rutland will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
