Volleyball Recap: Northwestern's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of six wins, Northwestern's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the North Union Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

Despite the loss, Northwestern still got an impressive performance from Ava Berner, who had 19 digs and two aces. Berner is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Claire Stott also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for North Union, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Northwestern and Shawnee will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on the 18th. As for North Union, they will welcome Bishop Ready at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
