Basketball Game Preview: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Dunnellon Tigers

Umatilla is 1-6 against Dunnellon since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Umatilla Bulldogs will host the Dunnellon Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Umatilla played against Mount Dora Christian Academy and lost via forfeit.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dunnellon challenged Forest on Wednesday. Dunnellon took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forest. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Wildcats are ranked 110th).

Umatilla's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Dunnellon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Umatilla came up short against Dunnellon when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 53-43. Thankfully for Umatilla, Tatiana Matthews (who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
