Baseball Recap: East Ascension Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

East Ascension proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the St. Pius X Panthers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since February 14th.

Ethan Blanchard looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kamden Snowden was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Ayden Gautreau also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

East Ascension has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. With the loss, St. Pius X broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Coming up, East Ascension will be playing in front of their home fans against Terrebonne at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Pius X will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kinkaid at 12:00 p.m. on March 29th.
