Basketball Recap: Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs vs. Cary Christian Knights
Wake Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Cary Christian Knights, falling 65-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-52 back in December of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Preston Avery went 9 of 15 en route to 18 points and five boards.
Andrew Neal was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 17 on his way to 31 points for Cary Christian. That makes it five consecutive games in which Neal has scored at least a third of Cary Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.
Wake Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Cary Christian, their record now sits at 10-5.
Wake Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 64-49 defeat against D.H. Conley on the 18th. As for Cary Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. David's at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th.
